Friday Funnies

This week, where to even begin? First of all, as much as I love my job it wasn't nice at all being back at work after a week of nothing but wine tastings, food tastings and dancing till our feet hurt. Can you believe I only kicked off my heels at 11pm? I wore them for seven hours, it's no wonder I could barely walk the next day. But you know what it was all so worth it in the end, because I had the time of my life. In other news, I'm sure by now you've all heard about the famous (but not so popular) Kim and Kanye's Vogue cover. As much backlash as it's gotten, it's also turned into a few spoofs. Some which I thought were pretty classic.

And of course the original....

100happydays update ten

This week's #100happydays update is a week late, because last week I was having a bit of a holiday! We were in the beautiful and sunny Cape Town, well more like Franshhoek as that's where we were staying. It was a lovely holiday with some awesome friends. Filled with nothing but good food, wine and plenty of funny times.

I found my hidden stash of smarties.

Making packing lists for my trip.

A delicious salmon salad in the Cape.

Starting our wine route.

One of my favourite views in Cape Town.

Visiting my favourite wine farm.

Ending the day with this view.

Friday Funnies

Oh yeah, the weekend is here. The sad part is that because it's Friday it means our time in Cape Town is almost over. The awesome part about going home though, is seeing all the awesome friends who are all back in Johannesburg. It makes the thought of leaving this beautiful place that much more bearable. Now let's get down to business, the business of laughter that is. So sit back relax and have a laugh.

I mean who knew

Today I'm here to share with you something that is just so amazing. After reading this you'll want to thank me for introducing you to the wonder that is, coconut oil.

1.Hair Conditioner
Applying it to your freshly washed hair. Leave in for four hours and then rinse off.

2.Tames the fizz
Scoop half a teaspoon of coconut oil, heat it up by rubbing it in your palms. Leave it in for as long as possible.

3.Make up remover
Use a small dollop on cotton wool, and watch the make up just come off fuss free.

4.Lip balm
Just apply a small amount to your lips each morning.

5.Body scrub
Mix it with sugar or salt, for an amazing body scrub, which exfoliates as well.

I've been using coconut oil for a couple of months now and the difference it has made to my hair is amazing.

Friday Funnies

It's Friday, hallelujah! Not only is it the weekend but it also happens to be my last day of work for the next seven days. That's right, next week we'll be on holiday in Cape Town and getting ready to celebrate the wedding of two very special people. But don't worry I have a few awesome posts lined up for you while I'm gone. So you don't miss me too much, lol. Right now though, let's have a laugh at this week's Friday Funnies.

100happydays update nine

Can you believe I've been doing the 100happydays Challenge for nine weeks now? Well, neither can I. Mainly because I've been having so much fun with. So here we are week nine and days 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56 of my 100happydays.

Sunshine after how many days of nothing but rain.

More rain, so it was a movie night at home
 with awesome company.

I can't stop smiling because I'm surrounded by that
 which makes me happy.

A day outside in the sunshine.

Another thing I love doing, baking.

Finding this flower in my little garden.
I loved these as a little girl.

When the forbidden fruits are in my office.

Vanilla butter cookies

This past weekend I decided to do something which I haven't done in a really long time, partially because I'm hardly home, and when I am home I don't really have the time. Now you're probably wonder what this is? Well this weekend I did a little baking. I tried my hand at some delicious Vanilla Butter Cookies and they worked out so well. Not to mention that they taste amazing, if I do say so myself.

Ingredients
125g unsalted butter room temperature
⅓ cup caster sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
¾ cup self-raising flour
⅔ cup plain flour
2 tablespoons milk

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Using an electric beater, beat the butter, sugar and vanilla essence in a medium sized bowl.
2. Sift the self-raising and plain flour together in a bowl. Add half the sifted flour to the butter mixture and use a wooden spoon to mix until combined. Add the milk and mix well.
3. Add the remaining sifted flour. Mix until the dough is soft and doesn't stick to the sides of the bowl. If the mixture is a little dry, add an extra tablespoon of milk.
4. Roll the dough into balls and then place the balls about 4cm apart on lined baking trays.

5. Use a fork to flatten the dough slightly. Bake the cookies, for 18-20 minutes or until the biscuits rise, are slightly cracked on top and are light golden underneath. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool before serving.

Friday Funnies

If you read my blog post on Wednesday you'll know that my friends and I got all dressed up and had ourselves a little Oscars prediction party. So I thought it only fitting that I dedicate this week's Friday Funnies to the funniest moments from this year's Oscars, proudly brought to you by Mirror.tv.

But to see all the best moments head on over to Mirror.tv.

100happydays update eight

So for those of you who live in Johannesburg you'll know that it's been really overcast, wet and gloomy lately. It's been the perfect weather for snuggle sessions on the couch but not that, that's what I've been doing. In fact I've hardly been home or had a chance to get my snuggle on with the couch. The highlight over the last couple days has to be the Oscar prediction party we had. We had a betting pool with over 600 smarties going for the night. Oh and did I mention we got dressed up for the occasion?

A dinner party with delicious food.

Friday nights at San Bar.

Braai, friends and wine. The makings of a perfect Saturday evening.

When I get beautiful gifts such as this.

Getting dressed up to watch the Oscars.

Coming home to no electricity so admired the clouds instead.

On a another wet and overcast day, tea is always the answer.

I really enjoyed answering the questions and seeing what everyone's answers were. Well this time we're at it again with quiz number two. If you'd like to take part then head on over to Erin's blog and below you can view my answers.
