The year 2013

Can you believe this is the last full week of the year? Crazy I know. It feels like just the other day we started 2013 and now it's all over. Which is just as well because I'm ready for a fresh new start. So instead of doing the usual New Year's resolutions and I'm going to look back and see what I've learn't this year.

  1. If you love someone, tell them, whether it’s your significant other, family members, or  friends.
  2. Bad days do not last forever, neither do good days. Learn to handle the situation during the bad times and cherish all the good times.
  3. Do not plan your life out according to a set time table. You never know when life will throw a curve ball at you.
  4. Learn to make your own decisions. It’s good to ask for advice from your peers, but at the end of the day, learn to take the risk on your own terms.
  5. Music is the cheapest and simplest cure to any of life's problems.
  6. Surround yourself with people way smarter than you. That is the only way you will be challenged to grow.
  7. A dream job does not exist. You have to create it.
  8. When you meet someone who has enough patience to deal with all of your issues, don't test that patience over and over again.
  9. I'm way too trusting.
  10. When you have expectations of something a person, an experience, a vacation, a job, a book. You put it in a predetermined box that has little to do with reality.
  11. Making a thousand friends is not a miracle. The true miracle is making one friend who will stand by your side when everyone else is against you.
  12. This will be my last blog post for 2013 as I'm off to enjoy some more needed me time.

Have such an awesome Christmas and New Year every!

Love you all...

Christmas table wishes

One of the things I love the most about Christmas is all the beautiful decor! This year unfortunately there won't be any Christmas table decor taking place, but that doesn't mean I hadn't been looking. So despite the change in plans and no table to decorate I'll be sharing my inspirations with you instead.

Friday Funnies

It's Friday....Yay! Yes, I know I'm stating the obvious here, but I'm really happy it's Friday because it also happens to be my last day of work for the year! I'm looking forward to three weeks of............NOTHING! So without further ado, let's have a laugh.

Last minute cards

Christmas is just around the corner and you're probably wondering what to get for all the friends and family? Or let's say you have the gifts all ready but you're stuck on how to make the cards? Well that's where I come in handy, as I have three easy to use and do Christmas cards just for you. Oh and not to mention how awesome they'll look in the end.

What you'll need:
Paper (various colours)
Buttons (red or a colour of your choice)
Double sided tape

Cut the black paper into a rectangle, the white paper into a circle and the red paper into a strip.

Stick the three pieces of paper together as follows and glue the buttons onto the red strip of paper. Draw a face on the white circle (snowman).

Cut three circles in defending size order out of the white paper. Cut arms out of the black paper and two triangles out of a coloured piece of pear.

Draw a face on the smallest circle. Using the double sided tape stick the circles on top of one another. Add the arms to the bottom circle and the two triangles on the second circle (to look like a bow tie).

Out of some multi-coloured paper or green paper draw a big triangle and then cut diagonal lines out of the tree.

On white paper stick the strips together as follows. To form a slanted Christmas tree.

There you have it, all three Christmas cards, as easy as that.

Paying tribute

Well I'm sure you all know by now, whether you've read it on the news, seen it on Twitter or heard it on the radio. Our beloved Madiba has left us and although we knew this day would come it's still a very sad day indeed and one which we were never really prepared for. So in honour of this amazing man, a man who has giving so much, I bring you 15 of his best quotes.

"Difficulties break some men but make others. No axe is sharp enough to cut the soul of a sinner who keeps on trying, one armed with the hope that he will rise even in the end."

"It always seems impossible until it's done."

"If I had my time over I would do the same again. So would any man who dares call himself a man."

"I like friends who have independent minds because they tend to make you see problems from all angles."

"Real leaders must be ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of their people."
"A fundamental concern for others in our individual and community lives would go a long way in making the world the better place we so passionately dreamt of."

"Everyone can rise above their circumstances and achieve success if they are dedicated to and passionate about what they do."

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."

"For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."

"Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies."

"Lead from the back — and let others believe they are in front."

"Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again."

"I hate race discrimination most intensely and in all its manifestations. I have fought it all during my life; I fight it now, and will do so until the end of my days."

"A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination."

Things you should know about me...

1. Sunshine makes me happy.
2. When I feel comfortable around you, I get real honest! Sometimes sharing a little too much.
3. At first when I meet people I'm quite shy. As I warm up to you, you'll soon be saying...."who knew such a little person could talk so much!"
4. I absolutely love the smell of mushrooms, onions and garlic; cooking on the stove.
5. When I'm all alone all I do is sing but would never sing in front of another person (unless I'm super comfortable around you).
6. I have these random burst of excitement about the weirdest things or nothing at all.

7. I love driving on long road trips and often wonder if I should just carry on driving whenever I'm on the highway.
8. I don't hold grudges, like ever. They take too much of my time and energy.
9. I'm finally starting to realise who I am, what I love, and I'm not ashamed of it.
10. Even though I love and I'm obsessed with shoes, I'm almost always barefoot.
11. I zone out very easily and can block out almost any noise.
12. I love clothes with a little bit of sparkle, glitter or lace.
13. I love getting all dressed up and going out, but I can just as easily snuggle down under a blanket on the couch.
14. I belong somewhere near the ocean, it's where I'm at my happiest.
15. Orchids and roses are my favourite flowers. There will almost always be fresh flowers in my house.
