It was only by chance that I stumbled upon this hidden gem of a lodge one day while browsing the internet for places to stay. The lodge is perfectly situated 20kms outside of the Paul Kruger gate of the Kruger National Park.
Our weekend away was so amazing and everything worked out so well. We kicked it off with some sundowners on Friday evening, while laying by the pool and overlooking the Sabie River.
Our view on Friday afternoon/evening
Saturday we drove into the park and saw A LOT of different animals. I won't bore you with all the photos, but let me just say we stopped counting at 67 elephants, 3 buffaloes, 3 lions, 10 giraffes, 9 warthogs, 2 crocodiles, 8 hippos and a few dozen Impala.

Sunday we decided to relax by the pool and enjoy some reading, a card game or two, do a bit of swimming (ok, more like a lot of swimming as it was a blistering 37 degrees) and have a drink or two. Which turned out to be a brilliant decision, because it was so hot two different herds of elephants decide to come play in the water that day. The first was a group of five young males in the morning and in the afternoon it was a whole family of 14 elephants with the tinniest little ones. If I could, I would have brought one home. They were just too adorable.
So close you could touch them, ok not really....
This is the life
Monday was of course a sad day as we had to go back to reality. Thank goodness it was an overcast and miserable day, because it made leaving paradise that much easier. On our way home we stopped off at Milly's for some trout pies....delicious.
We couldn't have asked for a better weekend and given the opportunity we're going back in a heartbeat! I mean just look at how beautiful the lodge and it's setting is.
The lapa where we had all our meals.
The view from the dinning room.
The outside, but inside lounge.

Our room, thank goodness for aircons.
So how was your weekend?
