Cheese baking...

This past weekend I did a little, OK maybe more like a lot of baking. A friend of mine (who happens to be a photographer) wanted to take photos of some baked goods and asked if I would mind supplying the baked goods. Now we all know how much I love to bake so of course I had no problem lending a hand. One of the things I baked is the fiancĂ©'s favourite...Cheesecake (and in honour of National Cheesecake day, 30 July). Oh and a pre-warning, this recipe is by no means a dieter's friend.

50g muscovado sugar
50g butter, melted
500g full-fat cream cheese
100g icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
200ml double cream
100g digestive biscuits

In a mixing bowl, mix together the biscuit crumbs and muscovado sugar. Add in the melted butter and mix well. Place in the fridge and allow to set.

In a large mixing bowl beat together the cream cheese, double cream, icing sugar and vanilla essence.

Mixing it up properly. Make sure to get the bits at the bottom of the bowl.

Spoon the cream mixture over the biscuit base. Smooth the top of the cheesecake with a spoon and chill the in the fridge for at least an hour or until it's set.

Ta da....

Beauty sharing

So just the other day I was reading through a bunch of my favourite beauty sites and blogs when I came across this very handy tip for blackheads. They're such a pain and nuisance to your skin and the really annoying part is that no matter how clean your skin is you can still have blackheads. This is because blackheads are caused when the oil in blocked pores comes into contact with the air. Having a regular facial is one of the most effective ways of getting rid of and keeping blackheads at bay. Unfortunately not everyone can afford to have regular facials which is why I'm a big fan of at homes masks and spas and facials. Honey face and fancy face are two which I use quite often. I love this at home facial by Miss Lauren Conrad and because it's so brilliant I just had to share it with you.

You’ll need
gentle facial cleanser
exfoliating scrub
face mask (clay-based for oily skin, cream or gel mask for dry skin)
face moisturiser

Using a good cleaner wash your face, neck and ears; making sure to remove all your makeup.
With your fingers gently rub an exfoliating facial scrub (in a circular motion) all over your face. Be extra cautious around your nose and forehead area making sure to exfoliate properly.
Now for a steam using a warm facecloth. Fill the bathroom sink with warm water and soak the facecloth in it. Ring it out and place it over your face, allowing it to rest there for a minute or two. In order to steam your face properly you’ll need to repeat this at least two to three times.
Depending on the type of skin you have (oily, dry or combination) you’ll need to apply the required mask on your face. Only use the recommended amount for the recommended time and then rinse it off.
Last but not least you’ll need to moisturise. Gently apply a good moisturiser all over your face and neck.

There you have it, you’ve now given yourself a facial for a fraction of the price. Have you got any wonderful facials, masks or beauty regimes you’d like to share with me?

All about me

Today's post is a little out of the ordinary. That's because today's post is all about me. I'm going to answer a few questions people have asked me lately.

What is your favorite thing to do during your spare time?
At the moment my spare time is consumed with studying and looking for cute wedding ideas.

If you could give any tip about blogging, what would it be?
Well I'm not an expert or anything but if there is one thing I know, it's write about that which you're interested in. Don't worry about other people. They'll see your passion and love you for it.

If you could pick one place to live for the rest of your life, where would it be?
I've said this before and I'll say it again. I would happily live somewhere by the coast. I was made for the beach, diving and swimming in the ocean.

Who is your favorite author?
I don't really have one. I mainly read more online than I do from an actual book (bad I know).

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?
An Elephant. Kinda huge for a pet I know but I'm obsessed with them.

Are you a beach, city, or nature person?
Beach and city! I love the beach for the peace quiet and luxury of getting to lay about. I love the city for the opportunities, shopping and variety.

If you could have any job, what would it be?
I would love to a community manager for a luxury brand, wine company or clothing line.

Well that's it for now. I'll be answering some more questions soon, but there were just too many to answer them all at once.

Picture prettiness

So I've been a bit busy lately (I'm doing a 10 week Digital Marketing course) and that hasn't let me much time to do anything but work and study. I have however found some beautiful photos online on Pinterest, because there is always time for Pinterest right...lol.

Reese's who...

This past weekend I had a real hankering for some Reese's peanut butter cups, but unfortunately they're not as readily available here in South Africa. This got me thinking to the time my sister and I decided to make our peanut bars. I can happily say they tasted almost exactly like Reese's.

1 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 cups confectioners' sugar

1 cup peanut butter
1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
4 tablespoons peanut butter

In a medium bowl, mix together the butter or margarine, graham cracker crumbs, confectioners' sugar, and 1 cup peanut butter until well blended.

Press evenly into the bottom of an un-greased pan.

In a metal bowl over simmering water, or in the microwave, melt the chocolate chips with the peanut butter.

Stirring occasionally until smooth.

Spread over the prepared crust.

Refrigerate for at least one hour before cutting into squares.

Oh and you're welcome....

I've learnt

I just started doing a ten week long Digital Marketing course and although I have been so excited to start this course I've been pretty nervous as well. It's been a while since I've physically studied and completed weekly assignments, and now I'm going to be doing it while working full time and blogging every other day. So needless to say I'm going to be just a tad busy! The first week of the course has been so much fun. The concept we're dealing with for this week's assignment is one which I caught onto pretty quickly (yay me). All this studying got me thinking about what I've learn't recently, not only through the course but life as well.

No matter how bad a day may seem, there is always something to be positive about.
I wear my heart on my sleeve. I need to be a little tougher.
Dry shampoo and my hair is just not a good combo. It's almost as if it makes my hair dirtier.
Making a wrong decision came sometimes (not often) end up being a blessing.
Life is as complicated as you want it to be.
Taking a step back and evaluating things can be the same as taking a step forward.

Have you ever

So lately I've noticed a lot of bloggers doing these "Have you ever" and "I cant believe" weekly posts. I've always thought they looked like so much fun. Then yesterday when I saw yet another "Have you ever" post I decided I just had to give it a try. So here we go. Have you ever...

1.Been pulled over?
I can happily say I have never been pulled over, but that doesn't stop me from getting nervous and my heart skipping a beat or two every time I come across a roadblock.

2.Plucked your eyebrows?
I do and it never stops being painful. My eyes still well up every now and again.

3.Pulled an all-nighter?

I tried a couple of times when it came to studying but always fell asleep by 12am.

4.Baked a cake?

All the time. Baking is one of the things I love to do.

5.Fallen down in public?

Yes! It was so embarrassing and I have never gotten up so quickly in my life. It was a matter of seconds from when I hit the floor to when I was up and walking away.

6.Been caught making out?

Hahaha, No!

7.Taken a pregnancy test?

8.Broken a bone?

9.Had braces?

10.Gone skinny dipping?
No...I'm boring I know. lol
11.Made a prank call?
Haha. We went through a stage in high school where that's all we did whenever all the friends got together.

12.Screamed during a scary movie?
Maybe once or twice, but I mainly just go silent and hide behind the pillows on the couch.

13.Gone out without underwear?

14.Been arrested?

15.Opened Christmas presents early?
Only once. My parents always made us wait until Christmas morning. There is nothing like the excitement of that morning.

16.Been in the hospital?
Yes, once to have my wisdom teeth removed and another time to have surgery under my arms (will save this for a blog post when I'm feeling really brave).

17.Had food come out your nose?
Lol, no. I'm sadly not that talented.

18.Toilet papered someone's house?
Not that I can remember.

19.Laughed so hard you cried?

20.Burned yourself with a curling iron?
No, but I have done it with the hairdryer.

21.Been hit on by someone too old?
Unfortunately yes. .

22.Eaten food that fell on the floor?
Hello, 10 second rule.

23.Given a hickey?
Maybe once.

24.Shared a sucker with your dog?
I did probably do this when  was younger but I don't remember.

25.Been in an accident?
Yes. Thankfully nothing too bad.

26.Spied on your neighbors?
Yes *confession time*.

27.Lied about your age?
No. I don't look my age though so people automatically assume I'm younger.

28.Fired a gun?
Once, my dad used to go hunting and let us go to target practice once.

29.Been drunk?
Yes, but it is never my fault, I'm referring to one friend in particular.
You know who you are...lol

30.Gotten a tattoo
I don't do needles. They freak me out.

There you have it. My version and answers to have you ever.
